Susana Balbo is one of Argentina 's leading and most innovative winemakers . In 1981 Susana graduated as the first female oenologist in Argentine wine history. She then worked for 25 years for various large wine estates as a winemaker. She is seen as the 'Evita Péron' of Argentine viticulture. Influential, loved and a little controversial. Under her motto 'where there is a will, there is a wine' she creates her way to her ultimate dream: her own winery where she can go wild with her ideas about making sublime wines. In 1999 she started her own wine estate Dominio del Plato in the heart of the Lujan de Cuyo in Mendoza. The winery is breathtakingly set against the backdrop of the Andes Mountains. In 2016 the name was changed to Susana Balbo Wines.
The Susana Balbo BenMarco Malbec is produced with grapes from Los Chacayes from the Uco Valley.
Los Chacayes is one of the warmest appellations in the Uco Valley but has a silty loam soil of alluvial origin with a high proportion of gravel with very good drainage. This Terroir is reflected in the BenMarco Malbec and is translated into purity of fruit with a clear acidity, firm tannins and a good length.
In the glass, the Ben Marco has a deep purple-red color with exuberant aromas of ripe dark fruit, wild herbs, vanilla and roasted coffee beans. The taste is full, intense and quite spicy. It has notes of aromas of flowers and black and red fruits with some spicy and toasted notes, which come across as aromatic and expressive. It has a juicy taste with freshness and a very tasty and expressive aftertaste.
