Teso la Monja's Victorino is a great wine. Coming from the inhospitable Toro with its extreme climate with very cold winters and very hot summers. The wine is made 100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo). The grape is much smaller with a much thicker skin than the normal tempranillo.
The vineyards are located in Zamora, Valdefinjas and Villabuena. Toro is certainly famous because there are still many ungrafted/original vines here that have not been affected by the grape aphid (Pre-phylloxera). The sandy soils prevented the louse from digging tunnels and reaching the area. This is in contrast to more than 95% of all vineyards that were lost in that time. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 650-800 meters and have a mainly sandy soil. The youngest vines are already 15-60 years old and the oldest between 60-120 years. The grapes are picked exclusively by hand and collected in small boxes to avoid damage. The yield is only 15hl/ha. 15-20 months aging in French oak barriques.
Victorino is a very intensive, versatile, full-bodied Toro wine with a lot of body. Black fruit, cocoa, spices, minerals and a long impressive aftertaste. Complex, concentrated, full-bodied, supple wine. Ripe black fruit, minerals, spices, roasted tones, ripe full tannins and an impressive finish. The wines always receive very high ratings unanimously
94/100 Parker & 4.3* Vivino
