Kai works completely biodynamically, which means that the yield in volume has shrunk, but the grapes have received so much more concentration, taste and body. All grapes are crushed with the foot / rubber boots and soaking is standard. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in a natural way (own yeasts) and the wines are raised in large old vats. Friends with Keller and Egon Müller and with the famous Roter Hang in Rheinhessen and of course the Kabinett style wines. He makes GG wines with 10% alcohol, but that is not allowed so they are around 11-11.5%. His Kabinett can have 5% alcohol, but that is not allowed either so they have around 7-7.5% alcohol. These wines take time and have a great storage potential.
This beautiful Grandcru or Erste Lage Silvaner comes from the qualified wine region of Nierstein with the best Silvaner grapes from the 2018 vintage. Made by a mass producer they are often anonymous wines but made by a top winemaker coming from an Erste Lage vineyard, this produces great wines. In the nose, the wine has a very pleasant inviting aroma, beautifully subdued fruit, beautiful in combination with acids and terroir, fraction more alcohol, much finesse, touch of wood, mouth-filling, acids and bitters, rich, aromatic, broad.
