The White Bones Chardonnay comes from the famous Adrianna vineyard of Catena Zapata. The vineyard is located at a high altitude in a cool climate. The White Bones Chardonnay vines are located on a terroir of sandy soil layered with limestone deposits and limestone. Fossilized animal bones can be found under the limestone and remains of ancient rivers hence the name White Bones. Harvesting is done in 5 different phases and this gives a very good balance to the wine. The wine has a great freshness with nice notes of honey, pear, minerals and is one of the most complex white Chardonnay wines we have tasted. Lots of depth, different layers with a blistering, somewhat salty aftertaste. Only 6000 bottles were made of this. This great white wine can be drunk young or aged for many years (Catena herself speaks of decades). The 2018 has received a whopping 100/100 points from Suckling: "This is really exuberant at this stage with fantastic aromas of honeysuckle, salt, chalk and dried apples and pears. Full body. Dense, vivid fruit with a linear frame of wonderful, energetic acidity. The energy and length just goes on for minutes. Soulful white. Argentina's answer to Montrachet. Stares you straight in the eyes".

Bodega Catena Zapata is considered the flagship of Argentina's wineries. Robert Parker's statement says a lot: 'when all is said and done, Catena Zapata is the Argentina winery of reference, the standard of excellence'.
