When it comes to value for money in Bordeaux, Château Le Crock is the one for you. This winery from Saint-Estèphe manages to deliver such a high quality every year that the winery is not only known for its excellent wines, but also for the amazing price/quality. It is not without reason that Château Le Crock is one of the very select wineries that achieved the highest Cru Bourgeois 'Exceptionnel' status two years ago. Château Le Crock is owned by the Cuvelier family, also owners of Château Léoville Poyferré and made with the same dedication.

The terroir is of high quality and lies between the big names such as Ch. Cos d'Estournel, Ch. Montrose and Ch. Haut Marbuzet. Château Le Crock has 32 hectares of vineyards on an exceptional terroir consisting of gravel, surface sand and clay. The benefits of these features are the ability to retain heat and provide a natural water reserve. The vineyard is spread over three different settlement areas and enjoys exceptional richness and aromatic diversity. The proximity of the Gironde acts as a thermal regulator, avoiding too high a temperature.

The 2019 Chateau Le Crock is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon 46%, Merlot 44%, Cabernet Franc 6%, Petit Verdot 4% In the glass, the le Crock has a deep garnet-purple color and lively, open scents of crushed blackcurrants, red currant jelly and whipped blackcurrant with hints of mossy tree bark and pencil. The medium-bodied taste delivers a good amount of crunchy black fruit with a slightly chewy texture and a refreshing finish. The fruit is ripe and soft from the start, the tannins are extremely fine for a St Estèphe. What a pleasure to taste this. The Cabernets Sauvignons here reach an absolute pinnacle in ripeness, energy and subtlety! The finish is also very long and lasting. No wonder this cru got the title "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" last year!
