This refined red wine comes from the Côtes de Franc which is a blend of 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 1% Carménère. The wine has had 24 upbringing in large wooden (oak) foudres and comes from a vineyard on a limestone / plateau-like plateau.
In the glass, this wine has a garnet-like color with a beautiful sparkle. In the nose, the wine is fruity with aromas of ripe fruit, roasted almonds, a slight spiciness and even some notes of truffles. In the mouth, the wine is velvety and smooth tannins. A wine that can seduce our taste buds through the elegant and balanced structure.
Château Le Puy, Famille Amoreau de père and fils depuis 1610. No Bordeaux made like thirty years ago but Bordeaux made like 100 or 200 years ago. No chemical sprays (biodynamic culture) in the vineyard, nothing of additives during the vinification (neither sugar, yeast, sulphite or other things), aging on old 'foudres' and barriques, not filtered. Château Le Puy is one of the few Bordeaux that you will find in hip wine circles on the tasting table between natural wines, Jura, Beaujolais and Loire. The label says - Expression originale du Terroir and that is not an empty marketing slogan. Château Le Puy: the Bordeaux for the post-Bordeaux era.
One of the more fruity and lively Bordeaux that I tasted this year. And hey, striking: turns out to be biodynamic. By the way, those are more famous wineries, but they don't put that on the label. Afraid that it scares the classically set target group. Then let them taste this le Puy. Powerful in the nose, medicinally chic. Spice crisps. Cassis with kapsones. Tasted again next day. When taking out the cork a clear 'pop': sign that the wine has fermented a little afterwards. Lively stuff.
