Deliciously accessible and fresh Chardonnay from Wijnhuis De Wetshof from South Africa. To get a place in Danie de Wet's series of Sideways wines, Chardonnay must also be a wine that is wonderfully smooth and accessible, with an emphasis on freshness and vibrancy. It is harvested from several clones of the estate's ten different Chardonnay clones, with an emphasis on grapes with plenty of white fruit and elegance. The calcareous surface provides extra freshness and minerality in the wine. Fermentation and maturation take place on stainless steel and the wine is placed on the lie, the dead yeast cells, for a while to counteract some extra richness and fat. Delicious, it is smooth and fresh at the same time.
This wine has a wonderful open scent, lots of white fruit, pear and a hint of citrus, exotic and fragrant, a fresh style in the taste Chardonnay light-footed in the taste, lime, fresh acidity and vibrancy, peach, pear, stimulating.
The wine is delicious to enjoy with a hearty fish soup, chicken from the grill, pasta with vongole, veal cutlet. Also goes well with a cozy drink with friends.
