Maison Champy is the oldest winery in Burgundy and was founded in 1720 in Beaune. Louis Pasteur has worked on this iconic estate to learn the trade and Gustave Eiffel, after building the Eiffel Tower for the World Exhibition in Paris, worked at Maison Champy, where he designed the building for the Maison Champy winery according to the architectural style of Eiffel.
Maison Champy organically manages a large part of its 21 hectares of vineyards on the Côte de Beaune - especially in Pernand-Vergelesses - to preserve and emphasize the true character of this exceptional terroir. Precision viticulture is the goal of Maison Champy. The importance of the environment means that every treatment follows the practices of sustainable and organic farming.
This 100% Pinot Noir Bourgogne Cuvée Edme is the "signature" of the oenologist Dimitri Bazas. This red Burgundy is mainly produced in three French departments: Yonne, Côte d'Or and Saône-et-Loire. It is the northernmost part of that region where the finest and most elegant red wines come from. The Pinot Noir variety forms the basis of all red wines. In the glass, the wine has a fresh ruby red color with purple accents. The nose is very open, with notes of small black fruits and vanilla with woody notes. The Maison Chmapy Bourgogne is fresh in the mouth, smooth and round. It is a very lively and structured wine with fine-grained tannins and good acidity, so it is certainly a wine that can also age well for a few years.
