The Vigne Surrau winery overlooks a site of over 50 hectares of land covered with vineyards. The project interprets the basement as a workplace that transforms a product of the land through visible processes, guaranteeing authenticity and quality. The architectural project is the result of a harmonious investigation between building and nature. The building is in fact realized by a series of transparent facades and local stone walls that merge with the land. The characteristics of the soil combined with the unique climate, lots of sun and constant wind, make Gallura one of the best places to grow grapes in Sardinia. The vineyards have a south-eastern location and enjoy the Mediterranean climate. The wind ensures that the grapes remain healthy and thanks to the presence of the sea, the grapes become extra juicy. At Surrau we work with respect for people and nature, so with minimal intervention and the motto at Surrau is that a good wine must come from a good and healthy vineyard.
The Narcau or (or Nuraghe) are fortresses built by ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean and these can still be found on the island of Sardegna or Sardinia
The Cannonau is the main red grape of the island. Cannonau is the Sardinian name for Grenach or Garnacha. Cannonau di Sargegna means: the grapes can come from anywhere in Sardinia .
The grapes for this Cannonau di Sargegna come from the 20-30 year old vines. The emphasis is on the fruit with fermentation and aging in stainless steel. After aging for six months, the wine is bottled and then aged in bottle for another three months. It is a fresh, juicy medium-bodied wine with savory notes, blackberry, strawberry flavors, notes of dried woody herbs. The Surrau Naracu Cannonau is an open and fresh wine with more typical Mediterranean fruit and mineral expressions from the granite soil of Gallura. The tannins are ripe and integrated for a long, smooth finish and we like to drink the wine slightly chilled. Like all wines, this wine is also sustainably produced.
