The total vineyard property comprises 18 hectares with properties in: Randersacker, Pfülben, Teufelskeller, Marsberg, Sonnenstuhl and Ewig Leben. Viticulture takes place with as little intervention as possible and with respect for nature.
The main grape variety is the Silvaner, 31% followed by the Müller-Thurgau with 15%, Riesling 14%, Bacchus 5%, Weißburgunder 5%, 15% Spätburgunder and Domina, 9% other varieties, including: Scheurebe and Rieslaner. Fermentation takes place as much as possible with the yeast cells that occur on the grapes themselves. A pure way of winemaking is part of the standard procedure, whereby - depending on grape variety and wine style - use is made of temperature-controlled fermentation on stainless steel or fermentation in oak casks. Some red and white varieties undergo fermentation and aging in small 225 L oak barrels (barrique).
Weingut Schmitt's Kinder is a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter). Schmitt's Kinder received an honorable mention from the Free State of Bavaria, the highest honor you can receive as an estate on behalf of Bavaria. At the International Wine and Spirits Competition, Schmitt's Kinder was awarded the prestigious title of German Wine Producer of the Year in both 2008 and 2009.
One of Weingut Schmitt's Kinder specialties is the Silvaner. The Randersackerer Sonnenstuhl Silvaner Kabinett Trocken is an aromatic white wine with a beautiful length of acidity. Wide variegated, lively, green herbs. In the taste, light creamy with lively acidity, perfumed aftertaste. Long finish. and a very gastronomic wine which you should definitely try with grilled fish dishes (delicious with a grilled Dorade), mildly spicy cream cheeses or with a meal salad.
