Domaine Henri Bourgeois is located in Chavignol, where the wine estate covered 2 hectares 60 years ago. The tenth generation of the family business now owns 65 hectares that provide grapes for half of the wines produced. The family also owns in the Marlborough area of New Zealand and even bottles some of their spicy sancerres. The top wines of sancerre and pouilly-fumé mature in oak barrels.
The grapes come from the Loire Valley with its countless vineyards that have an ideal climate and soil for making delicious Sauvignon Blanc. The lime in the subsoil provides a base of acids and tension, the clay provides structure and strength. The wine has a light straw yellow color in the glass. In the nose, this Pouilly Fumé has a fine scent, wonderfully broad, lush and exotic, gooseberries, ripe pear, flowers, splashing. In the mouth the wine is tasty and juicy, exotic and lively, nice acidity, light plumpness, nice length and power. A delicious crisp dry white wine which is delicious as an aperitif, goes well with seafood, turbot with spinach, a nice crottin de chavignol.
