As one of the first Ribera del Duero high-end wine companies, Emilio Moro saw early on the potential of the noble grape Godello and the Bierzo region and in 2016 the white wines of Emilio Moro - the El Zarzal and the La Revelia saw their light and from At the end of 2020 a new member was added, namely the Polvorette. Many large wineries now also have a Bierzo vineyard so that they can also make beautiful white wines. Examples include Matarromera and Mauro.
Of course, this new Polvorete is also based on the noble grape Godello coming from their vineyards located in the Bierzo.
The weather conditions in El Bierzo in 2019 were favorable for the very high grape quality. During the flowering period, a lot of rain fell, which affected the production volume. Later, at the end of spring and especially in summer, there was a big rise in temperature which, combined with the scant rainfall, allowed the grapes to enter the winery with a high sugar concentration but still very good freshness.
The godello grapes are fermented at controlled low temperatures in stainless steel deposits and then further matured on sur lie yeasts. In the glass, the Polvorette has a fresh straw yellow color, pure, clear and with a medium intensity. This delightful white wine is very expressive on the nose with notes of fresh white flowers and white and yellow fruit. The passage through the mouth is fresh and persistent, but without losing the balanced acidity typical of the variety. The Polvorete is a wine born to make the wonders of the Godello grape known all over the world. A wine full of joy, youth and fun, which is above all easy to enjoy.
90/100 Parker
Definitely worth mentioning is the great outfit and artistic label of this new white member of the Emilio Moro family.
Domingo Zapata is the artist who designed Polvorete's label. He comes from the island of Mallorca in Spain and moved many years ago to the USA, NYC where he became very famous.

Because Emilio Moro loves the art he creates which is lively, passionate and colorful, they decided that Zapata would be the perfect partner for the launch of the new, young and playful Polvorete. Polvorete's label reflects the artist's vision of the wine.
