The Grainhübel vineyard is located directly behind the winery on an old (coral) reef and shows soils with a fine sandy loess and marl. 2/3 of the wine fermented in 500 liter wooden barrels. Few vineyards produce Riesling wines with such a delicate yet lofty fruit that intensifies with age. Another warm and dry year followed in 2019. The harvest started at the beginning of September, slightly later than the year before. The juice of the wines has a high concentration but remains elegant and deep. The wines have fascinating aromas and are already receiving rave reviews from critics. Due to the extreme climate and the careful selection of the grapes, Von Winning has been able to make a very small amount of this very special vintage.
Von Winning citrus colored Deidesheimer Grainhübel Riesling Trocken GG has a cool, clear, fresh and concentrated lemon aroma with precise and smoky notes of crushed rocks. This Grosses Gewachs Grandcru Riesling is vital, stimulating, refined and very elegant. The wine reveals a nice phenolic grip and lemony finish with aromas of white stone fruit. The wine is still understated and will develop over time into an almost spectacularly concentrated Riesling classic. This Riesling should not be missing in a beautiful collection.
