Augustí Torelló makes the highest quality Cava from only the traditional grape varieties. With 94 Parker points for topcuvee Kripta, they had the highest rating for a Cava ever.
Agusti Torelló is a quality Cava house, using only traditional grape varieties - the Macabeo, Xarello and the Parellada - for this unique region just south of Barcelona around the town of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. All wines are only degraded when ordered (yeast residues removed and champagne cork placed), so that they are fresh for longer after delivery. The degliererdate is also on the bottles, something that many Champagne houses still do not. Moreover, it is one of the few houses that all Cavas dare to make from one volume. The beautiful dry and honest style typifies the wines of Agusti. Agusti Torelló is the only Cava house that mainly sells its bottles in (the top restaurants of) Catalonia, such as at El Celler de Can Roca. That Agusti Torelló is the most important Cava house is clear from the enormous flow of international recognitions. One example: the top cuvée Kripta was selected by Bettane Desseauve in their book 'The hundred best wines in the world' and presented during the presentation of this book!
The Kripta has a very complex nose with citrus, tropical fruit, sweet nut aromas and vanilla. In the mouth nicely integrated bubbles and a very long finish in which, in addition to the minerals, toast, butter and vanilla can be discovered. The wine is packed in a beautiful box.
