The Veuve Clicquot is, apart from Moet & Chandon, the world's most drunk champagne brut. In 1805, the 27-year-old widow Clicquot took over the management of the house founded in 1772 in Reims and became one of the first business women in history. This brave and forward-looking woman introduced the world to her champagne. Know-how & craftsmanship: for more than 200 years the house has adhered to its own motto: "There is only one quality, the best".
A consistent style: complex & powerful with mainly Pinot Noir. With a unique yellow house style, Veuve Clicquot exudes elegant liveliness with an edge.
An ideal gift. Makes parties and special occasions even more special.
A Demi-Sec is a (semi) sweet champagne. The Veuve Cliquot is a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. The Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec has a refined balance between sweet and fruity flavors and is strikingly fresh. Ideal as an accompaniment to a fruity dessert. The wine is beautifully yellow with deep gold highlights and fine, even bubbles. Rich in scents of ripe fruit (candied fruit, berry liqueur) with tang toasted bread and brioche. The wine feels soft and round and is wonderfully fresh thanks to the mild acidity. With pronounced aromas of ripe fruit.
Because the taste tends towards sweet and fruity flavors, Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec goes particularly well with fruit-based desserts: pear tart, gratin aux argues, charlotte with apricots. But also îles flottantes, crêpes Suzette, crème brûlée, nougat glacé or a traditional French three-king bread are ideal partners for this great champagne. After extra time in the cellar (two or three years or even longer under the right conditions), Demi-Sec develops even richer tones of praline or toasted bread. Then Champagne fits perfectly with desserts based on caramel or praline: Paris-Brest, tarte tatin, pears with caramel.
