The Equipo Navazos la Bota de Manzanilla Florpower style is a version that has made Equipo Navazos so famous. Only a few thousand bottles are made of it. Made from the Palomino grape, this is almost impossible to place. The MMXVI Nº 101 Manzanilla is one of the toppers of Equipo Navazos. La Bota de Manzanilla 101 "florpower mmxvi" is primarily a vintage (2016) white wine and a wine from one vineyard made 100% of Palomino Fino from vineyards in the Pago Miraflores La Baja (Sanlúcar) and fermented according to the traditional method. Fortified from 12% to 15% with wine spirit, later aged in Sanlúcar de Barrameda for almost three years following the traditional organic system. The 101 series is the successor and the same wine that was once bottled as La Bota de Florpower 84 MMXVI (also vintage 2016) and this has been deliberately kept/reserved to fortify it a bit and let it mature like a manzanilla.
La Bota de Florpower is a series that is made by Equipo Navazos as a white wine (not fortified), a Manzanilla (this version) and a Palo Cortado
So this Manzanilla is like a Florpower 2016, only with a little added alcohol and an extra year and a half longer under flor. This is a great Florpower. Tight, dry, very elegant, fresh, nice acidity and of course salty as befits a Manzanilla. Delicious as a desert wine (yes, unique with hard cheeses) but also great with shellfish and (unroasted) nuts and of course with Iberico ham .
