A beautiful gift box with 3 bottles of the Petalos del Bierzo by Jose Palacios and a beautiful decanter.
The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak. It is a full fruity powerful Mencia wine. F ol, round and fresh flavor with aromas of ripe black and red fruits like black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, ripe raspberries and strawberries. But also slightly spicy and a bit earthy with refined tannins. The finish is long and with nice fruit and some notes of vanilla due to the wood ageing. This 100% mencia comes into its own when served slightly cool.
The Petalos won 1st place at the Prix de Sommelier (winner in the red wines) and the 2017 received no less than 93 points from the Wine Spectator and 93 points from James Suckling.
