The La Spinetta Contratto Vermouth Rosso is a full Italian vermouth based on a recipe from the early 19th century, the combination of white wine enriched with Italian brandy and 30 spices make this a balanced vermouth with an exceptional taste experience.

Contratto was founded in 1867 by Giuseppe Contratto and is known as the oldest sparkling wine producer in Italy. The Metodo Classico Contratto Extra Brut was the first vintage sparkling wine ever made in Italy. Contratto has a long and rich history and produces wines that are spread all over the world and mainly in royal houses. Contratto, for example, was also the personal supplier of the Vatican as well as the Italian royal family. Monitoring taste and quality is not easy. The basic wine, the strengthening distillate, the spice mix, the extraction time and temperature all play a role in the end result. Guiseppe Contratto watched very carefully about this. In the 1930s, production reached a peak with more than 100,000 bottles per year.
But after WWI the popularity dropped enormously and in the 60s the production was even completely stopped.

In 1993, after 126 years, the company fell into disrepair and was sold to Carlo Bocchino, the owner of Canelli's grappa distilleries known by the same name and later by the famous wine house La Spinetta (in 2011). They ensured that the cellars and impressive buildings with tasting rooms were restored to their former glory. Bocchino says: "I don't want a company with such a rich history to be in the hands of a large group of multinationals"

The Contratta Rosso has aromas of coriander, laurel, clover, cinnamon, nutmeg, licorice .... Cocktail tip: 1 part Vermouth Rosso, 3 parts La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti .
