Nadège and Sylvain Fontan are the owners and winemakers of Vignobles Fontan. The small family domain produces good, very correct wines, Rich Floc de Gascogne and beautiful Armagnacs.
The tradition of distilling in this region is slightly different than in Cognac. For example, Armagnac is made through a single distillation in an Alambic Armagnacais.
In the Cognac it is carried out double distillation. The distillate is pure (no use of caramel) and pure in taste.
To achieve the desired alcohol percentage, the armagnacs are bottled with water up to 42% alc. reduced.
All grapes used, Ugni Blanc and Baco, come from the domain's own vineyards.
Fragrance: Toastons, vanilla and gingerbread.
Taste: Smooth, full flavor with notes of cinnamon, vanilla and liquorice with some mint in the finish.
