California has spent a lot of time focusing on the very cheap and the high-end
(often ultra-high-end), while the £10-£20 bracket has been neglected. We have
recently seen, particularly in the export market, much greater focus on this
area and this is a prime example. A great everyday Cali Pinot Noir with real
depth and character that won’t break the bank. Red fruit, dark fruit a vein of
spice and a plump mid palate and finish helped by the smallest drops of Syrah.

"There's something of a fashion to find the most rare and unusual wine styles
these days - the more obscure and arcane, the better. But forget Nascetta from
Langhe or Humagne from the Valais, the most rare wine in the world is good,
proper Pinot Noir for under £15 a bottle - that's the real holy grail.." Richard
