Redcurrant and cranberry vie for attention with the slightly wilder notion of
rosehip to create a lifted aroma with a wonderful edge of aromatic tisane,
hinting at some evolution. The palate confirms this with wonderfully rich
autolysis: oatmeal and biscuit, a touch of honey and the alluring brightness of
both fresh and candied lemon peel. This is utterly slender but totally profound.
A subtle, impressive and convincing wine with just the right amount of
evolution. This is serious enough to take on subtle foods. The finish is rich
but never lets go of its inherent English briskness."
94/100 Wine Enthusiast
"English sparkling wine is a hot topic at the moment with an entire week
dedicated to its rise in fame (Saturday 26th May – Sunday 3rd June). And with
good reason – we’re creating incredible sparkling wine in this country, easily
rivalling champagnes of the same price. Fresh, bright and dry with notes of rose
and rhubarb, this award-winning drop is from a Sussex vineyard utilising a blend
of 85% pinot noir and 15% barrel fermented chardonnay grapes before being aged
for 40 months."
Stacey Smith for IndyBest, "13 best rosé wines" (June-2018)
"The 2011 Rosé Réserve Brut is salmon pink in colour, with a soft, finepearled
mousse and persistent effervescence, notes of strawberry, red fruits, peach,
nectarine and a floral touch of rose petals delight the palate. With lovely
aroma persistence and a bright, lemony finish, this is a lively wine with fruity
focus and balanced acidity.”
Winemaker, Ulrich Hoffmann
Rathbone and Hoffmann's Winemaker, Ulrich Hoffmann, has an impressive
international 16-year career to lean on. It was not only his passion for
sparkling wine that finally bought Ulrich to New House Winery on the Mountfield
Estate in Sussex, but a long, long-distance love affair with now wife Birgit
Rathbone. The couple got to work, combined their names and the result is a
collection of award winning English sparkling wine.
The Rosé Réserve Brut is a blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% barrel fermented
Chardonnay, aged 40 months on lees. Lovely and bright with a fresh finish,
