Elegant, crisp, precise. Almond blossom, discreetly fruity, wild flowers, volcanic minerality and oak ageing make this an exciting, long-ripening wine. Szürkebarát is Hungarian for Pinot Gris, this wine is a pure delight giving a lovely expression of the volcanic basalt soil with the unique terroir character of Mount Badacsony.

Producer: Huba Szeremly was the founder of the Winemakers Guild of Hungary, the vineyard is now run by his son Laszlo. Nestled in a National Park on Mount Badacsony by the shore of Lake Balaton which is the largest lake in Central Europe. The volcanic basalt and shallow lake provide an incredible mediterranean micro climate, vines have been cultivated here since ancient Roman times, in the 3rd Century Emperor Probus gave this region the appelation 'Vinea Pannonia Nobilis Districtus'.

Farming: Grapes picked by hand, sustainable with strictly limited yields.

Winemaking: Traditional, aged in Hungarian oak barrels, Low Sulphur

Pairing: Fish, particulalrly salmon, fish in sauces, veal, mushroom dishes, pasta & pesto.
