Deep dark red in colour this Volnay 1er Cru has a complex bouquet of cherry, spice and vanilla. On tasting, it is fleshy and clean with mellow tannins. Red fruits and toasted almonds come through on the finish.
The premier cru vineyard of Volnay En Chevret lies mid-slope, in the same band of soil where the acclaimed Clos des Chênes, Caillerets, and Chapansin lie, the Southern end of the Volnay appellation. This area is where the best premier crus of the appellation are located, in rocky soils that are high in iron content, with less limestone and chalk than in other parts of the appellation. The resulting wines are sturdier, with more concentration and structure.

About Louis Latour
Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour has been in family ownership for 11 generations and are one of the region's most famous names. They have the privilege of creating wines from their own 50 hectare domaine in the Côte d'Or and also from the very best grapes and wines purchased through the negociant arm of the business. They also produce all their own barrels at their small, traditional cooperage in Savigny-Lès-Beaune.
