Edouard Brun Rosé, Aÿ, Champagne, Nv
Type | Sparkling |
Grapes | Pinot Noir, Chardonnay |
Country/Region | France, Champagne |
Edouard Brun’s wines are produced from fruit grown and harvested by the family, which might not sound unusual but it is – especially in Champagne. The most famous producers in Champagne don’t actually own their vineyards or more often than not even have anything to do with how the grapes are grown. They simply buy the grapes from the farmers or, sometimes, the ready made juice!
That’s why what we call ‘grower Champagnes’ like Brun are so exciting as it gives you a real guarantee of quality given that they have an input in every single stage of production. This, their rosé, is produced from 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir which has two years of lees ageing in the bottle prior to disgorgement which is another commitment to quality as its 9 months longer than required by law and adds a greater depth, complexity and overall loveliness to the wine.
