Folding Hill, Orchard Block Pinot Noir, Central Otago, New Zealand, 2016
Type | Red |
Grapes | Pinot Noir |
Country/Region | New Zealand, Central Otago |
Vintage | 2016 |
Folding Hill’s owners are originally from the UK and bought the property and its 4 hectares of vineyards in 2001. The Orchard Block is the cream of the crop – a special part of the vineyard that lies next to a row of apple trees.
Viticulturist Robin Dicey consults for the winery and he strongly believes that low yields and minimal intervention are of key importance in creating top-quality Pinot Noir. Fruit-driven and texturally silky, showing dark cherry and plums with a chocolate note on the finish. Pure and structured, there’s a touch of savouriness lingering, too. Delicious, especially with seared duck breast or a duck salad with cherries.
