Duncan Savage, previously the winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards, introduced his own label in 2011 with a goal to produce rock-solid, classic and elegant wines. Through his time at Cape Point, Duncan grew to understand maritime vineyards, which led him to source grapes for Savage wines from maritime and high altitude sites around the Western Cape.

The white blend is of 64% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon and 16% Chenin Blanc is show-stopping stuff. The fruit is from Kaaimansgat, Villiersdorp, Piekenierskloof and Stellenbosch. The parcels of fruit take up to six months to ferment, the wine is then aged in old oak and concrete eggs for 10 months.

Concentrated yet lean and focused. The Sauvignon Blanc, tight zesty fruit leads, with the richer Semillon and Chenin coming to the fore as the wine opens up in the glass. This drinks well now but will also age well.
