Stark-Condé were named in the ‘First Growth’ category of Tim Atkin’s special report on South Africa in 2019 whilst winemaker Rudger van Wyk was named Young Winemaker of the Year 2019. All in all they’re very much an estate on the rise and we’re very excited to welcome them to the Museum Wines portfolio.
This is a barrel-fermented white blend of Roussanne (54%) Chenin Blanc (30%), , Verdelho (9%) and Viognier (7%). This is a single-vineyard wine from the first vineyard you see when you drive on to our Oude Nektar farm. It is a tricky block, with a mix of soils and they tried to turn that into a positive by planting it as a blend.
The grapes are all picked at the same time and pressed and fermented together as a true field blend 100% barrel fermented in mostly older, neutral oak. An elegant blend combining the richness of Roussanne and Viognier with the bright fruits and natural acidity of Chenin and Verdelho.
