Stark-Condé were named in the ‘First Growth’ category of Tim Atkin’s special report on South Africa in 2019 whilst winemaker Rudger van Wyk was named Young Winemaker of the Year 2019. All in all they’re very much an estate on the rise and we’re very excited to welcome them to the Museum Wines portfolio.
From their well-known Three Pines vineyard, just above the Cabernet. The grapes were hand-harvested and hand-sorted and fermented in open tanks with hand-punchdowns throughout. Matured for 20 months in small French oak, 40% new. An elegant style of Syrah with a fine mouthfeel that one critic described as having the texture of crushed violets. This was an extremely small vintage: only 3,245 bottles were produced.
