This is a real find, a true cult Brunello producer! Not only is Cerbaiona a top-quality Brunello di Montalcino producer but their Rosso's are pretty serious. This vintage is entirely made up of de-classified Brunello. It was made with the expectation it was going to be Brunello di Montalcino right up until the final blending, then at the last minute the winemaker decided it wasn't needed. He had a choice, create a new Brunello OR give it the classification of Rosso di Montalcino (kind of like Brunello's little brother). He decided to go with ‘Rosso' so as not to confuse things. So, this is basically a Brunello but at half the price : you can't say fairer than that! Like its bigger bro this wine is a bit of a bruiser. Some classic rich cherry notes tempered by some old oak barrels and 6 years of bottle age. A great introduction to top-tier Italian reds.

Food Pairing hearty meat dishes such as oxtail, steak or anything gamey. To be honest, most comforting winter dishes like stew or sausage ragu are winners. Also works surprisingly well with blue cheese.
