James Fleming founded the Aberlour Distillery in 1879 in the heart of Speyside,
a region renowned worldwide for its first-class whiskies. The location,
picturesquely situated at the confluence of the Lour Burn and the River Spey and
nestled in the impressive landscape of Ben Rinnes, was carefully chosen. The
crystal clear, soft spring water, which flows over the pink granite of Ben
Rinnes and comes from nearby springs, gives Aberlour whisky its unmistakable
character.
A'bunadh Alba, which means "the original" in Gaelic, is a tribute to James
Fleming, the visionary founder of the Aberlour Distillery. This cask strength
bottling is produced with special care, with Spanish Oloroso sherry butts being
selected for maturation. It is bottled at cask strength and without
chill-filtration, allowing the whisky to retain its strong alcohol content of
61% by volume and full aromas.
Aberlour Batch 80 not only impresses with its balanced taste, but also with the
use of spring water from Ben Rinnes and regional barley. These local ingredients
contribute significantly to the whisky's characteristic profile.
