Angostura bitters, developed in 1824 by Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert, a
German doctor, was created in the Venezuelan city of Angostura, now known as
Ciudad Bolivar. Siegert set up a hospital on the orders of Simon Bolivar, the
South American freedom fighter, and initially developed the tonic as a treatment
for tropical diseases.Over time, however, it gained popularity as a condiment
and is now a key ingredient in the preparation of classic cocktails.



The Angostura No. 1 Cask Collection Premium Rum undergoes a two-stage maturation
process, starting with 10 years of ageing in first-fill American oak barrels,
followed by a further 6 years of ageing in French oak barrels.



After a total of 16 years of maturation, the Angostura No. 1 Premium Rum Cask
Collection presents itself as a rum that combines the specific characteristics
of both types of wood. This careful maturation gives it a distinctive variety of
flavors, characterized by the typical characteristics of American and French
oak.
