The Ardbeg distillery, unofficially in operation since 1794, was officially
founded in 1815 by John McDougall under the name Ardbeg. The name comes from the
Gaelic and means "little hill". The distillery is located on the south coast of
the famous whisky region of Islay, known for its characterful whiskies.
One of Ardbeg's most legendary creations was the Ardbeg Corryvreckan Limited
Edition, the heart of which was matured in heavily toasted French oak casks.
Only a few of these historic casks have survived to this day and are now being
reborn in the exceptionally rare Ardbeg The Abyss. This whisky, bottled at cask
strength, is limited to just 400 bottles and stands for absolute exclusivity.
With Ardbeg The Abyss, a legend is being retold - a whisky that is destined to
become a legend in its own right. This unique edition will never be available
again in this form.
