The Berta distillery, founded in 1947 by Paolo Berta in Nizza Monferrato,
Piedmont, has made a name for itself through the production of high-quality
distillates with unique aroma profiles. Over the years, the product range has
been expanded to include a wide range of grappa variations. The distillery has
been based in Casalotto di Mombaruzzo since 2002 and is managed by Paolo Berta's
sons, Enrico and Gianfranco.
Only pomace from the renowned Piedmontese grape varieties Nebbiolo and Barbera
is used in the production of Berta Monpra.
The Berta distillery traditionally uses the discontinuous distillation process
in copper stills that are operated with steam. After distillation, the Monpra
matures for around 12 months in barrique barrels, which gives it its
characteristic color and fine aromas.
