Codigo 1530 Tequila is a premium tequila brand that originated in Amatitan, a
city in the Jalisco region of Mexico. It is known for its high-quality,
artisanal production methods and its commitment to producing exceptional
tequilas. The name "Codigo 1530" is inspired by the centuries-old codex that
prescribes the exact method of tequila production in the Los Bajos region of
Jalisco. This code was introduced to maintain the integrity and quality of
tequila production.
The production of Codigo 1530 Anejo begins with 100% blue Weber agave, carefully
selected and harvested at peak ripeness. The agave hearts, known as pinas, are
cooked in traditional brick ovens to extract their flavors and sugars, and after
cooking, the agave is crushed and the juice is fermented with a yeast strain
developed by Codigo. This fermentation process converts the sugar into alcohol,
creating a flavorful liquid that eventually becomes tequila. After fermentation,
the tequila is double distilled in small copper pot stills, a process that helps
to refine and concentrate the flavors.Codigo 1530 Anejo is then aged for at
least 18 months. During this time, it rests in French white oak barrels made
from Napa Valley Cabernet. The extended maturation allows the tequila to
interact with the wood, adding depth, complexity and rich aromas.
