Legend has it that Don Melchora, the founder of the Concha y Toro winery, hid a
valuable wine collection in his personal cellar more than a hundred years ago.
But over time, he noticed that bottles were mysteriously disappearing.
Apparently, his secret cellar was no longer so secret, and the townspeople who
had heard about his exquisite wines could not resist trying them for themselves.

As the locals were superstitious and feared supernatural phenomena, Don Melchora
spread the rumor of strange happenings to secure his treasure. Noises in the
cellar, echoes, shadows and figures could only be understood with an
explanation: The devil himself was dwelling in his cellar. This is how the
cellar, Casillero del Diablo, got its unique name and helped to make the wines
known beyond the borders, making them one of the most famous Chilean wine brands
in the world.



The Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay Reserva comes from vineyards
located just a few kilometers from the Pacific Ocean. The strong sea breezes and
moderate temperatures make for remarkably fresh wines. The soils in the Limari
Valley give the Chardonnay an elegant mineral note, while Casablanca provides
fruity aromas such as peaches. This combination of climate and terroir results
in a Chardonnay that is appreciated for its elegance and complexity.
