The Domaene Wachau winery, based in Austria, is one of the country's leading
white wine producers. Grapes from various small terraced vineyards are used for
the so-called Terrassen wines.
A very mild and dry winter was followed by a cool spring, which provided the
soil with plenty of moisture. These conditions favored the growth of the vines
during the often hot summer days. Despite several hailstorms, the year was
largely positive right into the fall. The high September temperatures helped the
grapes to ripen, while cool October nights ensured balanced development. The
result is balanced and harmonious wines with a full-bodied texture and
multi-layered, juicy aromas.
For this Domaene Wachau Gelber Muskateller, ripe Muscat grapes from terraced
vineyards are used to achieve a clear and typical Wachau wine style with lots of
fruit. The vineyards are cultivated sustainably and increasingly organically,
without the use of insecticides and herbicides. The grapes are harvested by hand
and carefully selected before being pneumatically pressed and fermented in
stainless steel tanks under controlled conditions.
