Domaene Wachau, based in Austria's most renowned wine-growing region, the
Wachau, is one of the country's leading white wine producers. Steep terraced
vineyards, a cool marginal climate and barren primary rock soils characterize
the wines of the Wachau. "Smaragd" refers to particularly complex, powerful and
long-lasting wines from the Wachau.

The 2023 vintage began with a mild and dry winter, followed by a cool spring
that provided the soils with a good supply of moisture. This moisture benefited
the vines during the hot summer days and promoted their growth. Although there
were several hailstorms, these did not diminish the quality of the grapes, which
developed well. The high September temperatures encouraged ripening, which was
balanced out by cool October nights. The result is balanced and harmonious wines
with a full-bodied texture and multi-layered, juicy aromas.

Domaene Wachau Gruener Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen is made from 100% fully ripe
Gruener Veltliner grapes. After a careful selection of the best grapes, they are
pressed in pneumatic tank presses to preserve the quality of the grapes. The
must then undergoes controlled fermentation and is matured in stainless steel
tanks, which preserves its purity and freshness. After ageing, the wine is
bottled and sealed with a screw cap.

In the Wachau, the designation "Smaragd" stands for particularly dry, dense and
complex wines. These wines are characterized by their impressive structure and
depth and have great ageing potential. The Gruener Veltliner Smaragd Terrassen
not only impresses with its complexity and richness, but also with its
longevity, which makes it a special treat for wine lovers.
