The Felsina vineyard, which lies on the southernmost edge of the Classico zone,
is one of the most famous in Tuscany. The low limestone content of the soil
provides excellent conditions for growing grapes. The winery has already
received several awards for its high quality and top wines: "Winery of the year
2009" in the Gambero Rosso as well as countless 3-glass awards.
Felsina Fontalloro is a first-class red wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes
and embodies the essence of Tuscan winemaking. After careful harvesting, this
wine matures for 20 months in barriques, giving it an impressive depth and
elegant structure. It is then bottled and sealed with a natural cork.
With a drinking age of 2025 to 2045, the Felsina Fontalloro offers exceptional
ageing potential, allowing it to develop its aromas of ripe fruit, spicy notes
and fine wood nuances over decades.
Awards:
- 97+/100 points Lobenberger
- 96/100 points Parker
- 96/100 points Vinum
- 95/100 points Suckling
- 95/100 points Wine Spectator
