The Frescobaldi family's Castiglioni winery, which has been in the family since
the 11th century, marks the historic beginning of their wine-growing activities
around 1300. Located along the old Roman road Via di Castiglioni, the winery
connects the north of Tuscany with Rome and was already famous for the quality
of its agricultural produce back then. The noble coat of arms of the Frescobaldi
family, with crown, shield and three rocks, symbolizes Castiglioni's 700-year
winemaking tradition.

The 2023 vintage began in Castiglioni with a promising bud break in early April.
The cool and rainy spring days encouraged lush development of the shoots and
grapes. During the summer, temperatures rose, which led to ideal ripening and a
good concentration of nutrients in the grapes. The dry weather during the
harvest period ensured that the grapes were harvested healthy and perfectly
ripe.



Frescobaldi Castiglioni Chianti consists mainly of Sangiovese grapes,
supplemented by small quantities of Merlot, which grow in the best soil
conditions. The wine matures for six months in steel tanks and is then further
refined in bottles and bottled with a natural cork.
