In 2015, the GlenWyvis Distillery was founded in the Scottish Highlands near
Iverness. More than 3,600 supporters made the founding project possible. The
distillery is now fully owned by the community. The distillery is completely
independent of the power grid and is powered by renewable energy.
Only local Concerto barley is used for production. The mash is fermented for
about 96 hours before being distilled. Maturation takes place in First Fill
Tennesse Whiskey Casks, Oloroso Hogsheads and Refill Scotch Whisky Hogsheads.
