The Hess winery was once a brewery that brewed unique beer for hundreds of
years. Donald Hess took over the brewery at the age of 20 and trained as a
master brewer beforehand. In 1961, Hess founded Valser Mineralquellen AG, which
was so successful that Coca Cola was also sold. In 1978, Donald Hess decided to
take over a vineyard in Napa Valley with around 635 hectares of vines. Over the
last 30 years, Hess has bought three more wineries, which, like the main winery,
can be visited free of charge. Due to the unusual locations, unique and
multi-faceted wine aromas are guaranteed.
The Hess Chardonnay, a single-varietal wine, is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes
sourced exclusively from the renowned Monterey Valley. This region is
characterized by its ability to produce excellently structured Chardonnays year
after year.
Careful vinification is used to produce the Hess Chardonnay: The wine is aged
for nine months in French oak barriques, which not only gives it a subtle woody
note, but also emphasizes the complexity and depth of flavour. At the end of the
maturation period, the wine is carefully bottled and sealed with a screw cap.
Hess Select Chardonnay thus embodies the ideal balance between tradition and
modernity, offering an unforgettable taste experience that captures the essence
of its region of origin in every bottle.
