Goyave, a small village in the southwest of Guadeloupe on the Atlantic Ocean, is
home to Domaine Sainte Marie Marquisate, which has been in existence since 1895
and is known for its production of rhum agricole. Today, the Karukera and
Longueteau distilleries share the production facilities on this historic site.
The Karukera Vieux, a classic rhum agricole, is made from fresh sugar cane
juice. This rhum matures for at least three years in small oak barrels, which
are specially selected to guarantee the quality and purity of the end product.
The Karukera cellar master takes particular care not to use any artificial
additives, colorants or sugar. This approach makes it possible to emphasize the
natural characteristics of the local terroir and preserve the authenticity of
the rhum.
The absence of additives and the careful selection of maturation barrels ensure
that the Karukera Vieux can develop its characteristic aromas, which distinguish
it as a high-quality rhum agricole.
