The Kavalan Distillery in Taiwan was founded in 2005 by T.T. Lee, President of
the Taiwanese food conglomerate King Car Group. His greatest wish was to open
his own whisky distillery in Taiwan.Kavalan is the name of the Yilan region,
which lies south-east of the capital Taipei. An important reason for choosing
this location is the excellent water quality. There is plenty of cold spring
water in Yilan, which flows through the Snow Mountain.



The Vinho Barrique is already one of the best-selling products in Kavalan's
range, which prompted Salud to select this particular barrel for a single cask
bottling. Although the same Vinho Barrique product is used, it turns out that
the taste and overall experience from a special single barrel can be completely
different from the standard product. According to Maria Kitsati, Director of the
Austrian branch, this uniqueness makes bottling from a single cask particularly
fascinating.



This Vinho Barrique is bottled at an impressive 56.3% cask strength and is
limited to just 165 bottles. The bottles are presented in an elegant blue design
with the name Salud on both the bottle and the gift packaging. The first bottles
will be presented to the Taiwanese embassy in Vienna, with which Salud maintains
a close partnership, which further underlines the exclusive character of this
bottling.
