The Kavalan Distillery in Taiwan was founded in 2005 by T.T. Lee, the president
of the King Car Group food conglomerate. His greatest concern was to create a
whisky distillery in Taiwan that embodies the highest quality and uniqueness.

The name "Kavalan" is derived from the Yilan region, which lies south-east of
the capital Taipei. This location was deliberately chosen as Yilan is known for
its excellent water quality. The cold spring water that flows from the Snow
Mountain provides ideal conditions for whisky production.



This whisky belongs to the renowned Kavalan Cask Union Series and is matured in
Taiwan's subtropical climate. It is matured in three different sherry casks:
Ex-Oloroso, ex-Pedro Ximenez and ex-Moscatel sherry casks, which gives the
whisky its exceptional complexity and depth.



The Kavalan Solist Vinho Wine Oak single malt whisky in a miniature bottle
offers the opportunity to try the whisky before buying a large bottle to ensure
that the taste matches your own preferences. This whisky from the Solist range
has been matured in reclaimed American oak casks that previously contained red
and white wine.



Re-charring and burning out the casks has brought out a distinct vanilla note,
while the previous storage of wine provides a complex flavor background.
