In the late 1990s, a group of friends wanted to create the first whiskey
distillery in Wales for over a century. The dream was to create a whisky as pure
and precious as Welsh gold.Thus, Penderyn Whisky was launched in 2004 on St.
David's Day. Dr. David Faraday designed a unique copper still with a still that
the friends owned.
The distillery is located in the village of the same name on the southern tip of
the Brecan Beacons mountain range. The fresh, natural spring water available
there is a component of the great whiskies.
The Welsh distillery Penderyn now brought the 8th bottling of the whiskey
collection "Icons of Wales" on the market. The Welsh word "HIRAETH" means
something like "a longing for home, heritage and essence".
The Penderyn Hiraeth is a single malt that matures in former bourbon casks.
This is a limited bottling.
