The Poliziano winery was founded in 1961 by Dino Carletti. He initially acquired
22 hectares, but over the years expanded this to 170 hectares. The name
"Poliziano" comes from the humanist and poet Angelo Ambrogini, who bore this
nickname.
In 1980, Carletti's son took over the business. From the very beginning,
Federico was very concerned with the harmony between nature and viticulture.
After graduating with a degree in agricultural science in 1978, he exerted a
significant influence on viticulture and the production process. Through the
experience of generations, the wine has grown and gained worldwide recognition.
Poliziano Rosso di Montepulciano is a carefully blended blend of Sangiovese and
Merlot grapes, harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel
tanks at a controlled temperature for 10 to 12 days. The wine then matures in
barriques before being bottled and sealed with a natural cork. This hearty,
fruity red wine has a cellaring potential of about five years, during which it
can optimally develop its aromas.
