Ron Piet Rum is produced in Panama, in San Miguelito, according to ancient
tradition.
According to legend, Ron Piet was the parrot of a notorious pirate whose ship
was sunk during a battle. Only the brave bird survived and clung to a barrel
with the inscription "Ron 10 Anos Panama".
The barrel drifted in the sea for a long time before it was washed up on the
Hamburg beach with the parrot on board. A pub owner who found the barrel and the
parrot took care of the bird and named it "Ron Piet" in reference to the barrel.
The rum was aged in bourbon barrels for a period of 3 years, developing subtle
aromas of vanilla and oak. The characteristic color of the rum was created
exclusively by the barrel aging, without the use of artificial coloring.
