The Ron Matusalem brand was founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1872 by the brothers
Benjamin and Eduardo Camp and their partner Evaristo Alvarez. The name is
derived from the biblical figure Methuselah, who lived to be 969 years old and
stands for longevity and quality. After the Cuban revolution in 1959, the brand
changed hands and production was relocated to the Dominican Republic, where it
continues to this day.

The Ron Matusalem Gran Reserva Solera 23 is a smooth, creamy rum produced
according to an old Cuban recipe. It matures for up to 23 years using the solera
method, which originates from sherry production. This process consists of
several rows of barrels in which older rums are partially removed and topped up
with younger distillates. This results in continuous maturation and consistent
quality over many years.



The age indication on the label always refers to the oldest rum contained in the
blend, which underlines the high maturity and exclusivity of the product.
