The Ron Matusalem brand originated in Santiago de Cuba, where it was founded in
1872 by brothers Benjamin and Eduardo Camp, together with their partner Evaristo
Alvarez. The name "Matusalem" comes from the biblical figure Methuselah, who is
said to have lived to be 969 years old, and symbolizes the long maturation
process and quality of the rum. Over the years, Ron Matusalem has faced various
challenges, including changes in ownership and production locations due to
political and economic factors. After the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the brand
changed hands and production was moved to the Dominican Republic, where it
continues to flourish.

Insolito is aged for 3 years in ex-tempranillo soler barrels and then blended
with the legendary 15 Solera Gran Reserva made in-house. The pink color results
from the vewendete activated carbon filtration.

The Insalito still appears only in limited editions.
