De rRon Sostenible 12 Years Old Cognac Cask stands for maximum enjoyment and
consistent sustainability. Its name means "sustainable rum" in Spanish - a
promise that is kept at every stage of its production. Produced in one of the
world's most environmentally friendly distilleries in the Dominican Republic,
this rum is not based on molasses, but on freshly pressed sugar cane juice. This
special base gives it exceptional purity and aromatic depth.
The careful ageing process takes a total of twelve years. The rum is first aged
for eleven years in ex-bourbon barrels before being refined for a further year
in cognac barrels. This process ensures a perfect balance of sweet, fruity and
spicy aromas with a subtle hint of wood. Sustainability remains a key element:
the distillery generates its own green electricity from the biomass of the sugar
cane, uses the vinasse as a natural fertilizer and captures at least 50% of the
CO₂ produced for reuse.
